He is growing by leaps and bounds, both physically and mentally. I can barely keep up with him. It's amazing.
He is weaned, for more than a month now. Even though he asks to hold my boobies when he's exhausted and falling asleep, he doesn't ask to nurse anymore - which is good because I still miss it. Especially now when the tantrums are so hard to interrupt. He doesn't even need to have a bottle to fall asleep or in the middle of the night anymore. He has a few sips of watered-down juice, then rolls over and falls asleep, usually on Tom's lap but sometimes in bed.
And this leads to what might just be a transition from our bed to his own. There have been several nights now where he falls asleep in his bed and doesn't wake up enough to need to come into ours. So there have been several nights where I actually get uninterrupted sleep. This makes me very very happy, even if I do miss Tai cuddling up to me while we sleep.
He's got a lovie now, though he's not too attached to it - it's the stuffed animal he asks for most often and holds when he falls asleep at night. It's a turquoise stuffed Easter Bunny. Tai named him "Hey Bun-bun" AKA "Mr. Bun-bun" and "Bun-bun".
He has started saying 'I' and 'me' instead of just referring to himself in the third person. I don't know exactly when the 'me' started, but it was in the last couple of days or so.
He sings the alphabet, counts to ten fairly reliably, and plays mad games on the iPad.
He has a new habit where he says, "What I want?" with a really coy look when he knows he wants something that he's embarrassed about asking for, for some reason. Then we have to guess what it is he wants.
He loves to eat. He loves triscuits, fruit twists, strawberries, yogurt, candy canes (he's found our stash! He's tall enough to find a stash!), empanadas, hummus, carrots, cereal, lima beans, lentil soup, tortellini with pesto, and veggie nuggets. Even things he doesn't usually like (peas), he will eat if another friend is eating them. The other night he woke me up at 3am asking for grapes.
He likes to feed me while he eats and watch me eat, too. He wants to do whatever I'm doing and wants me to do whatever he's doing. He's started pretending, sometimes.
He likes me to sing (unless my voice is hoarse) - tonight he requested 'your friends and my friends and your friends and my friends'. This is a song he learned at our Nature Explorers class. "The more we get together, together, together/ The more we get together the happier we'll be. 'Cuz your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends/ The more we get together the happier we'll be."
He loves hearing stories, especially Sandra Boyton and Curious George. He loves the Wiggles, Zoboomafoo, and Little Bear. He's still a sports fiend and a social butterfly. He makes me smile and I love him more than words can say. Even cliched words.)
