This is one of my favorite books of all time.  I know it's a bit simplistic, a bit obvious in what is 'right' and what is 'wrong', but that doesn't bother me.  Maybe because the first time I read it, I was still in high school.  Or maybe because I agree with so much of Starhawk's vision of utopia.

Book babble here )Now Tai is crying, so time for sleep.  (In other, less high-falutin' news - he learned to pick his nose!)

This is one of my favorite times of the year - the Friends of the San Francisco Library has a huge book sale in Fort Mason.  Everything is $5 or less.  Hardbacks, paperbacks... even movies and CDs.  (On Sunday it's all $1 or less.  Eeek!)  Today was the first day that the public could attend, so of course I had to go.  I only had an hour in between dropping Tai off at Mom's and heading to therapy, but I made it worthwhile.  I picked up 13 books (for $39) and I'm ready to go back for more.  I haven't even hit the kids' books or the fiction (scifi/fantasy especially) yet.

book geeks, click me! )
One of the most fun parts was seeing all the other book geeks.  People were browsing with *shopping carts*.  And even when we were in line to check out (a twenty minute line, no less) we were all browsing the tables we passed.  Even the tables that were other people's discards.  It's so cool to be surrounded by other people who love reading as much as me.  Now I just have to find time to read the books I buy.
