31_days July 21, 2008. An unpublished bit for Of Green and Gold. Legolas' POV. Takes place while he is masked, after he has returned from Mandos' Halls.
He has given his face, his voice. He would give more, give all, if it would alter the way of things. He closes his eyes, but painted against the darkness is Elrohir's hand raised, defending the Bard. He tries not to hear, but in every song Lindir is voicing the words he cannot say now, or ever. And Elrohir listens, his gaze turned to another, his smile for another. Because Legolas walked away – because he did not trust himself. So he has lost and so he regrets. Actions not taken. Words not spoken. Love turned to another and so, lost.
