40 weeks, 1 day

Even though I've never expected to deliver on my 'due date', and even though I'm well aware that it's more like a 'due couple of weeks', there's something about reaching (and passing) that date that feels... weird. Unsettling, as though I'm the one who is late for something. Of course that feeling isn't helped by everyone else's antsy-pantsyness. My brother called yesterday, just to say hi - not too unusual, except he called during lunch. Tom's parents called on Sunday (when I was out with my Mom and Tom was at work) and when we didn't answer, were convinced we'd gone to the hospital. Brogan called a couple of times. And even when people don't call, I can totally feel their curiosity even from a distance.
Funny aside - today I went to Green Apple to sell some of my books. After I finished doing that, (and only sold a few sadly) I went up to check out the parenting section. While I was there, another obviously pregnant woman joined me. She and I traded grins and she asked how far along I am. I said, "Due yesterday" and her jaw dropped. "You're tiny! You're going to have a tiny baby." I laughed and said, "that's what everyone tells me." She looked bigger than me, and still has 5 weeks to go. I have no idea where the wiggler is hiding in there. Or maybe it's just that I'm not a skinny girl to begin with, so he just mostly blends in (except for his butt, which tends to stick out).
I'm just trucking along at status quo, though. Over the weekend I had a couple of incidences of painful warm up contraction things, but that's the most exciting thing that's happened. I met with Lis yesterday and she thinks things are still looking good. I've lost a bit of weight, probably mostly fluid, which is good. The wiggler has moved down a bit more and he's turned a little bit, which is good since his back had been to mine. I still need to do more positioning stuff, and keep walking, but other than that - not much. It was a really good appointment, though. Things have been a little strained between Tom and I lately (add his work stress, plus my hormones, plus baby coming soon and you come out with a bit of a bumpy road. Not unexpected), and I got to vent with her a bit which helped. But the very best thing came at the end of the appointment. We went upstairs and she gave me a bit of a belly massage. It felt *amazing*. Loosened tight muscles and such... If I were made of money I'd totally get a prenatal massage from someone. Every day.
I'm finally mostly prepared. I have nursing bras, I have a bassinet, clean baby clothes and blankets, I have the few supplies I need for the birth. Yesterday Tom and I hired a cleaning service to come in a do a huge once-over. The floors are clean and the shelves are dust free. Most everything is put away. Our bathroom is mostly finished, the kitchen is in working order (though it isn't beautiful). Now we're just waiting for the kidlet to arrive. And trying not to be too impatient. Because we only have a little time left as a couple - soon we'll be a threesome. A family.
