Normal Day
Dec. 8th, 2007 09:40 pmI’ve got a lot going on in the brain - I want to write a post about RPF (real person fanfiction, for those who don’t spend all their time in fanfic-land). I want to write more about what I’m thinking/feeling about having a home birth. I want to write about the holidays and the weird place I find myself in - not quite Jewish, not Christian either. But my brain is mostly dead this evening. After days of cleaning frantically for much of the day, I am tired. And Tom is home, so I’m planning on going to bed early tonight. Because he’s jetlagged, that’s all. Really!
My day was pretty decent. I got up at the crack of dawn (read: 7am. I am going to be so screwed when I have the baby. I doubt he’s going to let me sleep seven hours in a row. Hee.) and picked Tom up at the airport. We got breakfast together, even though Tom’s body thought it was still the middle of the night. Then we headed home where he checked email for a bit while I cleaned both bathrooms and vacuumed the entire upstairs. I still had more to do, but I decided to take a break… just for ten minutes or so. But Tom was asleep on the couch, Luna was sleeping on my lap and the Sleep Rays were too much for me to take. I closed my eyes for just a minute and conked out for two hours. (How can I be tired after a two hour nap? I have no idea. I’m blaming the pregnancy - after all, I’ve only got a month and a half or so to milk the pregnancy.)
Later, I met Lisa at Natural Resources, where I got a sling and Lisa got a Moby (which she is very kindly lending me). And she bought ‘Winston’ (Churchill) a really cool natural wood rattle (such smooth wood. I might just keep it for myself). And then we went in to a Meet the Midwives event. Two midwives from the Bay Area Homebirth Collective were there, and they gave a talk about home birth and introduced themselves. We arrived a bit late, but it was good to meet them. One of the midwives had come to my birth prep class and she remembered me. Unfortunately she is full for January, but the other midwife has availability - so I’m going to give her a call and set up an appointment. Tomorrow the collective is having a holiday party and all of the midwives will be there, so I figure I’m going to check that out too.
After, Lisa and I spent a while chatting about birth and Livejournal and other random stuff. It was good to just hang out.
Nothing particularly exciting, just a regular good day. And I’m thankful for that.
